Final NEW-D Conference in Graz, AT

The second multiplier event will take place to present the developed NEW-D curriculum and the materials developed for the new dictical approach in initial VET for the target group of young disadvantaged learners. It will form the core of the final conference organised at the end of the two-year project period. The main aim of the conference is both the presentation of the curriculum and the materials to the target group as well as to boost its further and sustainable use to the benefit of the final beneficiaries.
The event will be held in Graz, Austria. About 100 participants, including people from all partner countries and beyond, are expected to attend this event.

Fourth partner meeting in Graz, AT

Partners from all partner countries met for the final project meeting in Graz, AT on 26 September 2016. They reported on the implementation phase in the various countries and prepared for the final conference.
Wrapping up the two project years, all partners expressed their strong belief that NEW-D had made a good and sustainable contribution to prevent young disadvantaged people from dropping out from their education pathways. The first NEW-D Conference took place on 14 January 2016 in Graz, Austria. It followed the development of the NEW-D Guidelines and supported the dissemination of this crucial output among the representatives of the target group. The conference, which was organised by our Austrian partner E.N.T.E.R. and opened by the Deputy Mayor of Graz, Ms Martina Schröck, contributed to a broader discussion about new didactical models for disadvantaged target groups.
In her keynote, Ms Eva-Maria Wimmer, apprenticeship coordinator at SPAR Austria, gave valuable insights into the apprenticeship training within the supermarket chain. She emphasised the importance of a close and coordinated cooperation between in-company and school training.
Two expert presentations by Michaela Meier (Jugend am Werk Steiermark) and Maria-Luise Leiter (Jugend am Werk Steiermark) were followed by two workshops, which were headed by Ms Meier and Ms Leitner. In this pracitcal conference part, which was held in the form of world cafés, the participants worked on the dual VET system from the point of view of the trainers and the trainees, respectively.

Third partner meeting in Florence, IT

The NEW-D consortium met for their third partner meeting on 3 and 4 December 2015 in Florence, Italy. The meeting was hosted by our Italian partners, FormAzione Co&So Network. Except for the Slovenian partners, all the partner organisations were there and joined the very intensive work.
The main part of the meeting was devoted to finalising the NEW-D Guidelines, which are the basis for the NEW-D Curriculum. Discussions were fierce yet fruitful, and the partners managed to reach agreement in all the open issues.
The second major part of the meeting was devoted to the development of the NEW-D Curriculum and its forthcoming implementation in the partner countries. Piloting will start in spring 2016. Second partner meeting in Kranj, SI

The second partner meeting was hosted by Gospodarska Zbornica Slovenije, our Slovenian partners, on 18 and 19 June 2015. All the partner organisations were present and spent two intensive days with a lot of work in the small Slovenian town of Kranj.
In addition to the presentations on the dissemination and exploitation strategies by E.N.T.E.R. GmbH from Austria and on the quality management handbook by FormAzione Co&So Network from Italy, the first part of the meeting focussed on the first intellectual project output. The partners had been working hard and Meath Partnership (IE) was able to present the results of the research phase.
Based on the research conducted by the partnership, the focus then lay on the NEW-D Guidelines. Jugend am Werk (AT) had prepared the basis for the partners’ work on the second intellectual output. ‘Pre-drop-out support’ was the commonly agreed catchphrase, and in work and discussion groups the participants came up with an outline for seven guidelines.

Kick-off meeting in Berlin, DE

Hosted by Oscar-Tietz-Schule (OSZ Handel II), our German partners, the project kick-off meeting took place in Berlin, DE on 12 and 13 January 2015. Apart from the Slovenian partners, the delegates from Austria, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Turkey met for the first time to give the project a brilliant start.
No time was wasted and so the partners started with their work on the first intellectual project output. Profoundly guided by the Irish partners of Meath Partnership, the participants managed to work out detailed guidelines for the weeks to come: The partners planned the desk research; appropriate instruments were introduced, discussed and created. They agreed on a plan for the empirical part of the research, designed questionnaire instruments and developed interview guidelines.
